
Mr. Lababidi Visits the India and Arab Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture to Discuss Ways of Supporting Syria

Dr. Waiel Awwad, Acting Secretary General of the India–l and Arab countries Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, received Mr. Zakaria Lababidi, Director of the Afro-Asian and Oceania Department at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Dr. Bassam Al-Khateeb, Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to India.
The meeting discussed recent developments in Syria following the removal of the former regime, and the country’s ongoing efforts to reorganize state institutions and rebuild the nation. Both sides emphasized the importance of encouraging Indian investors to enter the Syrian market and take advantage of the investment and reconstruction opportunities, as well as the potential for reviving and modernizing Syria’s industrial, agricultural, and commercial sectors. The discussions also touched upon supporting developmental, social, and economic projects that serve the interests of the Syrian people.
Dr. Awwad reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to providing all necessary assistance and services, and to encouraging Indian companies to invest in Syria at the earliest opportunity. He also highlighted the importance of India’s participation in Syrian trade fairs and conferences across various fields and sectors.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen Syrian-Indian economic relations and to open new horizons for cooperation in the pursuit of sustainable development and mutual prosperity.
