High-Level Delegation from Arab League & IACCIA Meets Union Tourism Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to Advance Medical Value Tourism
NEW DELHI — A high-level diplomatic and trade delegation led by the Embassy of the League of Arab States and the India & Arab Countries Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture (IACCIA) called on the Hon’ble Union Minister of Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, at Kartavya Bhawan 2, New Delhi.
The delegation was headed by H.E. Dr. Mazin A.N. Masaoodi, Head of Mission, League of Arab States, New Delhi, accompanied by Dr. Waiel S.H. Awwad, Secretary General (In-charge) of IACCIA, Mr. Manish Sharma, Chair – Government Affairs, IACCIA, and Mr. H.S. Chaudhary, Senior Member, IACCIA.
The key focus of the discussion revolved around bolstering bilateral cooperation in Medical Value Tourism (MVT), traditional wellness, and healthcare infrastructure, connecting India with the 22 Member States of the League of Arab States.
Key Highlights of the Meeting:
- Institutional Framework & Facilitation: The delegation held discussions on streamlining institutional mechanisms to ease medical travel, simplify visa workflows, and expand specialized healthcare corridors for patients traveling from Arab countries to accredited Indian hospitals.
- Investment & Healthcare Infrastructure: Discussions also touched upon strategic trade partnerships, joint investments in medical hubs, and collaborative knowledge-sharing programs between healthcare providers in India and the Arab world.
Expressing strong optimism, Union Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to expanding the 'Heal in India' vision. He highlighted that India remains dedicated to providing world-class, affordable, and compassionate healthcare to international patients, emphasizing the historical and economic ties between India and the Arab nations.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to establish structured follow-up dialogues and joint working frameworks between the Ministry of Tourism, the Embassy of the League of Arab States, and IACCIA to realize the outlined goals.
